BoltRecorder Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

This privacy policy describes how the BoltRecorder Android application (package name app.sirslop.boltrecorder) accesses and handles information. In this policy, “BoltRecorder,” “the app,” “we,” and “us” refer to the BoltRecorder application and its developer.

2. Information handled by the app

BoltRecorder handles the following information only on your device:

• Audio recordings: The app accesses microphone audio only after you tap Record and grant Android's microphone permission. The audio is used solely to create the recording you requested.
• Recording details: The app reads and displays local media information such as a recording's filename, duration, file size, and date added so that you can find and manage your recordings.

BoltRecorder does not collect or transmit this information to the developer or to a developer-operated server. The app does not request Android's internet permission.

3. How recordings are stored and used

Recordings are stored through Android's MediaStore in the shared Recordings/BoltRecorder folder on your device. BoltRecorder uses them only to provide recording, playback, seeking, renaming, listing, and deletion features that you initiate.

Because this is shared media storage, recordings may also be visible to you through file managers, media applications, backup or synchronization tools, and other applications that have appropriate access under Android's permission rules. The privacy practices of those separate applications and services are governed by their own policies.

4. Data collection, sharing, and sale

BoltRecorder does not:

• send audio recordings or recording details off your device;
• collect personal information, device identifiers, contacts, or location;
• create or manage user accounts;
• use advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs;
• sell, rent, or share user data; or
• use recordings to train artificial intelligence models.

5. Android permissions and services

The app may request or use these Android capabilities:

• Microphone: Required to record audio when you start a recording.
• Notifications: Used to show recording status and controls, particularly while the app is not visible. On supported Android versions, you can grant or deny notification permission.
• Microphone foreground service: Keeps an active recording running when the screen is off or the app is in the background and keeps a visible notification present while recording.
• Wake lock: Keeps the device's processor available during an active recording so the recording is less likely to be interrupted.

You can manage app permissions through Android Settings. Denying microphone permission prevents audio recording but does not prevent you from managing recordings already stored on your device.

6. Retention and deletion

Recordings remain on your device until you delete them. You can delete or rename recordings from BoltRecorder, and you can manage them using compatible device file or media tools. Because recordings are stored in shared media storage, uninstalling BoltRecorder may not delete them.

The developer does not retain server-side copies and therefore has no remote recording or account data to retrieve, correct, export, or delete. Device backups or synchronization services that you enable may retain their own copies independently of BoltRecorder.

7. Security

BoltRecorder minimizes privacy risk by keeping its recording features local and by not requesting internet access. You are responsible for controlling access to your device, shared media, device backups, and any copies of your recordings that you export or share.

8. Children's privacy

BoltRecorder does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other users. The app does not provide accounts, advertising, social features, or developer-operated online services.

9. Third-party platform services

Distribution platforms and device services, including Google Play and the Android operating system, may independently process information under their own terms and privacy policies. BoltRecorder does not receive microphone recordings from those services.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if BoltRecorder's features or data practices change. The updated policy will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's privacy disclosure and Google Play Data safety information as appropriate.
